HOW TO HELP

Fertility in the Workplace

Creating a fertility friendly place to work is not simply about implementing a policy, or providing paid leave to employees for fertility appointments. It is about creating a culture of understanding and recognition for fertility and its related struggles within your organisation.

Why it matters

Around 1 in 6 individuals will experience difficulties when trying to conceive, and the impact goes far beyond the clinical side - it can affect mental health, finances, relationships, and day-to-day life.

For those going through fertility struggles, work can become an additional source of stress. Appointments are often time-sensitive, treatment can be physically and emotionally demanding, and many employees report feeling unable to be open about what they’re experiencing. As a result, people frequently struggle in silence - impacting both their wellbeing and their working lives.

Support at work matters. Creating a fertility friendly workplace isn’t just about policies - it’s about building a culture where people feel understood, supported, and able to have honest conversations. When organisations take steps to do this well, it leads to stronger wellbeing, improved retention, and a more engaged, loyal workforce.

The Tiny Seeds Toolkit

Our Fertility Friendly Workplace Toolkit has been designed to help your organisation take practical, meaningful steps towards better support.

Developed in collaboration with HR and legal professionals, the toolkit provides clear guidance on what fertility treatment can involve, the challenges employees may face, and how employers can respond in a supportive and realistic way. It includes:

  • Insight into fertility and its impact in the workplace
  • Guidance on building a supportive and inclusive culture
  • Key considerations for employers
  • A step-by-step framework for creating a fertility policy
  • A ready-to-use policy template

Whether you’re just starting the conversation or looking to formalise your approach, the toolkit gives you everything you need to take action with confidence.

Become a £400 Fundraiser

Since 2023, we have awarded over 150 grants to islanders. Behind every grant is a person or couple navigating one of the most emotionally challenging times of their lives. IVF costs add up quickly and our travel grants help ease the pressure when it matters most. But demand remains high - and our fund is running low.

That's why we are asking individuals, workplaces, community and friendship groups to please consider taking on a £400 fundraiser in whatever way works for you. That might be a bake sale, dress-down day, quiz night, sponsored challenge, or your own idea!

We are here to help along the way, with donation packs available, including collection tins, QR codes for online donations and information about Tiny Seeds.

Every £400 raised supports one person or couple to travel for IVF treatment.

If you can help, we'd love to hear from you, please send us an email to hello@tinyseeds.je
